Review: This Pardon has changed my life!

Dear Parole Committee;
My name is xxxxx and some time ago you granted me a Pardon for Driving While Ability Impaired which I was convicted of 2000-06-23 in the court in Prince George BC.
I am writing to you to explain what a difference it has made to my life as well as to the life of my son.
Since receiving this Pardon, I feel a large weight has been lifted from my shoulders and I can hold my head up high and proud. Prior to the Pardon, I lacked confidence in various parts of my life.
My chosen career is as a Heavy Equipment Operator. When I apply for job I no longer cringe when asked about having a criminal record. Before the removal of this charge, I would often not even bother to apply for positions which I knew I was qualified for just because the position required a Criminal Record Check. Now I feel worthy and much more confident when applying for more elite positions.
While this charge was still existing on my record, I was unable to apply to supervise outings with my son’s classes during his school career. I cannot put into words how I felt inside when I had applied to chaperone a school outing and the application came back with the word “Clear Record” stamped on it. It was so difficult trying to make excuses or try to explain to my son when he was older why I could not attend school field trips or supply transportation to school events.
This Pardon has changed my life. I am so thankful for your decision to erase this charge from my record, giving me another chance to have a normal life. You have given me the confidence to go after things that I never thought I deserved.
With appreciation,

(name redacted)

Re: Pardon Granted
Dear Madam/Sir,

Thank for giving me an opportunity to share my feelings and experiences living without criminal background. But before I do that, I would like to thank you for trusting and believing in me, and for giving me a chance to start my life over.
I have never had any criminal convictions in my entire life and when I gave gotten this burden on my back, I have realized the difference of being labeled and stigmatized and being law-abiding citizen.
It does not feel heavy anymore. I am making plans how to better myself and my relationships with my family others. I also thought of how to adjust my behaviour and my thought processing in the future, that my reaction to surroundings is calm and friendly. Anger management classes help me tremendously. I have realized the beauty of freedom, not just from confinement, but also from labels being a criminal and so on. The air feels lighter and fresher now, when the pardon is granted. It is if I have dropped a very heavy luggage that I was carrying with me for a while.
Thank you for another chance to feel like myself again.
My best regards,

I just received your documents confirming that my Pardon request has been granted and complete. It truly is with great relief, yet embarrassment that this part of my life occurred and the weight of shame it carries. It is not the person I am or choose to be.
Thank you very much for making this Pardon possible, and allowing me to move forward in my life, although I have been positively for many years. Thank you for the correspondence via email when I had questions to follow up throughout this process. Most of all thank you for the letter I received dated August 8th, 2018 confirming destruction of my file.
